Hello,

I’m honored to share that we achieved a major milestone with our construction project. On July 15, 2021, the final support beam was lifted into place. Though we have a long way to go before completion, this steel beam represents the solid foundation on which the future of San Diego public media will be built.

Though we weren’t able to welcome the public to share in this moment, we were able to invite KPBS staff to sign their names on the beam before it was installed. This is a common construction project tradition but to us it felt incredibly special. Our team was able to put their mark on a time capsule and deepen their own personal connection to KPBS.

To allow you, our valued partners, a chance to celebrate this accomplishment alongside us, we are sharing some photos of the signing and a short video of the installation. Click here to watch. We hope you are as proud of this achievement as we are.

Thanks to you, we’re one significant step closer to making the new building a reality. Soon we’ll be together again in a new building that reflects everything good about San Diego. It celebrates journalism you can trust, a place for the community to come together to engage with one another, learn, and be inspired, and programming capabilities that allow us to share stories unique to our region. I look forward to opening the doors and celebrating with you.

Thank you for all your support of KPBS and this campaign. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Nancy
